Intelligent Surveillance at Bhiwani Medical College with Impulse

Bhiwani Medical College, a prominent government-run medical institution in Haryana, serves thousands of patients, staff, and students every day. With a campus that includes outpatient blocks, laboratories, academic buildings, and emergency units, maintaining a secure and well-monitored environment was a critical need.

The college required a modern surveillance system capable of delivering high-resolution footage, supporting 24/7 monitoring, and adapting to both indoor and outdoor conditions. Impulse collaborated with the institution to deliver a reliable, scalable, and intelligent surveillance solution tailored for healthcare infrastructure.

Key Challenges

• High-footfall monitoring – Continuous and clear surveillance was needed for busy areas like corridors, OPDs, and main entrances.
• Access control – Constant oversight of restricted areas was essential to prevent unauthorized entry.
• Low-light performance – Strong visibility was required in dimly lit interiors and outdoor environments during night hours.
• Durability and resistance – Cameras had to withstand weather exposure and potential tampering in public-facing zones.

Solution Deployed

Impulse designed a comprehensive surveillance ecosystem by integrating advanced IP cameras, intelligent video management software, and high-capacity storage solutions to ensure seamless monitoring and enhanced security.

1. 5MP Motorized IR-Dome Cameras

For corridors, patient waiting areas, and critical indoor locations, 5MP Motorized IR-Dome Cameras were installed. Featuring a 1/1.8” progressive CMOS sensor and 2592(H) × 1944(V) resolution, these cameras deliver sharp, high-quality video. The 2.7mm – 13.5mm motorized varifocal lens allows flexible viewing angles, while P-IRIS support and 120dB Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) ensure crystal-clear visuals even in challenging lighting.

With AI-powered features such as face detection & recognition, human and vehicle detection, heat mapping, queue length analysis, and intrusion detection, these cameras provide smart analytics to enhance overall security within the campus.

2. 5MP Motorized IR-Bullet Cameras

To cover outdoor areas such as the ambulance bays, parking lots, and outer perimeter zones, 5MP Motorized IR-Bullet Cameras were deployed. Equipped with a 1/1.8” progressive scan CMOS sensor and a 2.7mm – 13.5mm motorized varifocal lens, these cameras offer high-definition 5MP video quality with an IR range of up to 60 meters for superior night-time visibility.

Built with an IP67 weatherproof and IK10 vandal-resistant casing, these cameras are ideal for exposed outdoor environments. Additionally, edge analytics like motion detection, perimeter intrusion alerts, and license plate detection enable proactive monitoring and quicker incident response.

3. 5MP PTZ IP Network Cameras

For strategic long-range monitoring, 5MP PTZ cameras were integrated at key vantage points across the campus. With a 4.25mm – 170mm focal length and 40X optical zoom, these cameras provide close-up monitoring of distant targets without compromising image quality.

Featuring an IR range of up to 200 meters, quad streaming, auto-tracking, and edge analytics, these PTZ cameras enable dynamic surveillance of larger open spaces, ensuring no blind spots remain unmonitored.

4. IMPULSE XTRA+ Video Management Software

To centralize monitoring and streamline operations, the IMPULSE XTRA+ Video Management System was deployed. Built as an enterprise-grade VMS, it offers:

• User-friendly interface for simplified control
• Four times more camera capacity per server compared to conventional systems
• Intelligent modules for advanced analytics
• Seamless mobile client support for on-the-go monitoring

This software empowers security personnel to manage live feeds, review historical footage, and leverage intelligent alerts for proactive security management.

5. High-Capacity 4K Network Video Recorder

For robust storage and smooth retrieval of recorded footage, a 4K Network Video Recorder was deployed. Supporting up to 64 channels and 8 SATA drives, it features:

• H.265 compression technology for optimized storage
• 640 Mbps recording bandwidth for uninterrupted data handling
• 4K preview and playback to ensure high-quality video access

This ensures long-term, reliable video retention and efficient management of high-resolution data.
